Introduction

Reward Maximizer ("we," "our," or "the extension") is a Chrome browser extension designed to help users maximize credit card rewards by tracking and comparing offers across multiple credit card portals and cashback platforms.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

Information We Collect

Data Collected and Stored Locally

Reward Maximizer collects and stores the following information locally on your device using Chrome's local storage API:

Credit Card Offers
- Merchant names
- Offer values (cashback percentages, bonus points, fixed rewards)
- Offer sources (credit card portal names)
- Expiration dates (when available)
- Merchant categories
- Opt-in timestamps
- Offer status
User Preferences and Settings
- Selected credit cards
- Custom point valuations
- View preferences (by merchant, card, or category)
- Banner display preferences
Sync History
- Last sync timestamps for each credit card portal
- No specific transaction data or purchase history
Current Tab Information
- URL of the currently active tab (used only to detect merchant websites and display relevant offers)
- This information is processed in real-time and not permanently stored

Data We DO NOT Collect

We want to be clear about what we do not collect:

❌ Banking login credentials or passwords

❌ Browsing history beyond the current tab URL

How We Use Your Information

The information collected is used solely for the following purposes:

Offer Management - Store and organize credit card offers, display relevant offers when you visit merchant websites, compare offer values, and identify stacking opportunities
Personalization - Customize point valuations, filter and organize offers, auto-detect current merchant websites
Functionality - Enable sync operations, provide export capabilities, show offer alerts

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage Only

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's local storage API. We do not:

❌ Store your data in any cloud services

❌ Use remote databases or backend services

Your data remains entirely on your computer and is never sent over the internet by our extension.

Data Security

When you uninstall the extension, all stored data is automatically deleted

How the Extension Accesses Websites

Portal Scraping

Reward Maximizer accesses credit card portal websites (American Express, Chase, Citi, Capital One, Discover, Bank of America, US Bank) and cashback platforms (Rakuten, Capital One Shopping, TopCashback) to:

Read publicly available offer information displayed on your account's offer pages
Automatically click "Add Offer" or "Activate" buttons on your behalf (when you initiate a sync)
This only occurs when you explicitly click a sync button in the extension

Important: We do not store or transmit your login credentials. The extension only reads offer data that is already visible in your authenticated browser session.

Merchant Website Detection

The extension runs on all websites to detect when you visit a merchant that has active offers. This allows us to show a banner alerting you to available offers and display the best card to use.

The extension only reads the website's URL (hostname) to determine if it matches any stored merchant names. No other data from the website is collected.

Third-Party Services

Reward Maximizer currently does not use any third-party services, including no analytics services, no error tracking services, no advertising networks, and no data sharing with affiliates or partners.

If we decide to add analytics or error tracking in the future, we will update this privacy policy, request your explicit consent, and provide opt-out options.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your information with third parties.

Your Rights and Choices

You have full control over your data:

Access and Export: View all stored offers, export data using CSV or JSON
Modification: Update or delete individual offers, modify preferences
Deletion: Clear all offers or delete specific offers, uninstalling removes all data
Opt-Out: Disable merchant banner, choose which portals to sync

Use at Your Own Risk

By using Reward Maximizer, you acknowledge that:

You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with your credit card issuers' terms of service
The extension automates certain actions on your behalf
We are not responsible for any consequences of using this automation
You should verify all offers directly on the credit card portal
